Chelsea Samson, BE, MD
Chelsea R. Samson, MD, is a radiologist at Charleston Radiologists, PA. She joined the practice in 2021.
Dr. Samson completed her musculoskeletal imaging and intervention fellowship and her radiology residency including abdominal imaging, neuroradiology, and pediatric imaging at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology, Barnes Jewish Hospital, in St. Louis. She also served as Chief Resident and Resident Director of Women in Radiology. Dr. Samson interned at Broadlawns Medical Center in Des Moines, IA.
Dr. Samson earned her Doctor of Medicine at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine where she was awarded the Roentgen Award for her contributions to radiological sciences. She received her Bachelor of Engineering in biomedical engineering from Vanderbilt University where she graduated magna cum laude. Dr. Samson was awarded the full-merit Paul Harrawood Honors Undergraduate Scholarship to study biomedical engineering.
Dr. Samson is a member of the American College of Radiology, the Association of University Radiologists, the Society of Interventional Radiology, and Tau Beta Pi. She is an accomplished researcher and presenter with over a dozen scientific articles published.
Throughout her training, Dr. Samson has pursued both clinical and basic science research with the Department of Defense and the Louis Pasteur Institute in Paris, France. Her clinical interests include minimally-invasive orthopedic procedures, medical education with a focus on women in STEM, and forensic radiology.
During her time off, Dr. Samson can be found painting or making pottery, learning to play the drums, and traveling, always with a glass of sweet tea in hand!
