Applications and Treatments

This procedure uses sound waves to provide pictures of suspicious areas of the breast, helping to distinguish between cysts and solid masses.
-
This is an outpatient procedure done with local anesthetic through a tiny nick in the skin. Either ultrasound or mammographic guidance is used to guide accurate placement of a small biopsy needle in the area of concern to remove a few samples of tissue.

A Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DEXA) scan is a non-invasive procedure that uses very low levels of radiation to measure bone density. This test detects bone loss in its earliest stages and is the most effective way to diagnose osteoporosis. Dexa scans are accurate in assessing fracture risk or treatment needs. The exam takes only 15 to 20 minutes and is done on an outpatient basis.
